Welcome Addresses

Dear Colleagues,

We are cordially inviting you to participate in the International Medical Congress entitled 2nd International Congress: Anesthesia for Seniors to be held in Prague, Czech Republic, June 7–9, 2012. It will follow, after three year a very well attended Congress in Prague “Perioperative Care for the Geriatric Patient”.

The average age of the population is steadily increasing. During the next two decades, the population older than 65 years is expected to grow by 75 %. It is estimated that the number of people aged 85 and older will exceed over 20 million by 2025. Increase in life expectancy, early recognition of medical problems and reduced mortality from chronic age-related diseases, has increased the number of elderly patients subjected to perioperative medicine: anesthesia, surgery, critical and postoperative care surgery, and pain management. The implications of an aging population for clinical practice are well recognized with growing new information.

The 2nd International Congress: Anesthesia for Seniors provides a unique opportunity to meet and interact with participants from many medical specialities from around the world in order to discuss improvements of care in the elderly.

The organizing committee will update information on website: www.anesthesiaforseniors2012.cz.

We look forward to seeing you in Prague
